Happy New Year, y'all!

What a rollercoaster of a year this has been! I must admit I’m still processing a myriad of emotions as I reflect on 2022… It feels as if 2022 was three years rolled into one!  Well, let us begin with the positive...

On a professional level, the ride was intense, thrilling and quite exhausting at times, but nonetheless incredibly rewarding. It seems as if everyone who had postponed their party, wedding, anniversary, fundraiser and/or celebrations of all sort was on a mission to outdo their wildest dreams of the last two years, and perhaps more! Honestly, it has been a true honor to be entrusted to musically accompany so many precious moments for so many, and I feel incredibly privileged to share this work with esteemed colleagues and friends. As an actress, I also reconnected with the stage this year in a wonderful production of M. Butterfly. As a songstress, through the performance of several concerts, which I cherish and hold near and dear to my heart.

I also started teaching for Timbalooloo Music, which is a fantastic young ed music program, created and directed by the amazing Oran Etkin. It’s truly wonderful to witness these children discovering various musical instruments and genres, and to play a part in their evolution and development!

After dodging it for a year and a half, I finally contracted Covid and it was pretty tough, which surprised me a lot. Being a very healthy person, and having had all the vaccines and boosters, I honestly didn’t think it was going to hit me so severely. Thankfully, I did not lose my sense of smell/taste and it wasn't long Covid… Unless that’s how to explain my extra frosty side ;)

On a personal level, I was lucky enough to share truly memorable experiences in the company of loved ones, including some resourcing trips, very welcomed moments in nature and the addition of the beautiful Maddie to our family, who titled me with my most important role so far: the one of an auntie!

After beginning with the positive… I find it hard to look at the world and feel enthusiastic sometimes. The climate is undergoing a full blown crisis that we continue to ignore, the world is at war and humanity seems to be at a loss.

For 2023, the world could use more empathy, unity, and a deeper sense of community. I hope we’ll be able to transform life's slaps into caresses, that we may turn raging tornadoes into calming breezes, and that trees may grow where bombs have landed. I wish humanity to have leaders with less ego, a world of peace, and individuals with more gratitude. I sincerely hope we make choices that prioritize our planet’s health. Let us look passed our differences to come together and collectively begin to accept some uncomfortable truths. For the sake of human kind, our planet, and for our descendants.

I’ve started the year doing two of my very favorite things with my favorite person: performing music and enjoying nature with my partner in crime, Elias Bailey. I can only hope 2023 has more of exactly this! Happy New Year, y’all!
