Another Spring, Another SHOW!

Hello friends! I hope you’re enjoying this wonderful Spring weather and are taking time to smell the blooming flowers :) I’ve just been so swamped working on my upcoming performance at Birdland that I barely didn’t notice Spring had already Sprung! Eeek!

I’m however growing increasingly excited about presenting this brand new show about Marlene Dietrich, who, the more I research, the more I find extremely fascinating. Dietrich was not only a fantastic performer with serious acting chops, but also a pioneer in asserting  a woman’s right to controlling her image, and defying social conventions of the 1930’s. She had the courage to demand the respect that women were denied in this time, while being recognized for denouncing fascism and embodying a uniquely  enigmatic sex appeal. Isn’t that amazing?!

The show, now just around the corner, is giving me so much life, especially coming out of our « social coma » the last 3 years have been... Accompanied by my stellar and long-tenured trio (Hyuna Park on piano, Elias Bailey on upright bass & Alex Raderman on drums), I can’t wait to render Dietrich’s most iconic songs, convey some of the most dramatic moments of her life and legacy, all while unveiling some of the diva’s mysteries on April 13th! And I heard there might be a very « special guest » showing up for the performance… See for yourself through this little snippet taken during Susie Mosher’s Lineup at Birdland last week, before officially partaking in the premiere of the show next week! :)

I hope you’ll join us for a “best of cabaret in NYC” evening on April 13th and that together we’ll get to celebrate an icon referred to as « Queen of the World » by the Broadway community: the one and only Marlene Dietrich. You won’t regret it! ;)
