My Rêverie… Songs from Myriam Phiro debut EP

Select album to play

My project of late… My very first EP featuring the songs of my “french-jazzy-musical theatery” world! The date of parution is still to be determined but here is a little glimpse:

Front

I came to the Big Apple with a heart filled with hopes and wonders of living up to my dreams. “My Rêverie”; a title that evokes dreams, hopes and aspirations was also chosen in honor of my favorite classical composer of all times: Debussy. Although this is not a classical selection, the songs on this album speak of love, truth and hope and were selected with a very precise distinction: they all were important factors at highly crucial points of my career development. Producing an EP was, for certain, a dream I secretly cherished for a long time but also a project I didn’t entirely expect to happen so fast. Life, and its thousand little ways…! “My Rêverie” became obvious to me in the Fall of 2012. I was singing “Bei Mir bist du Schön” at NYC’s best hidden speakeasy “The Back Room” and I got this flash of inspiration. I went home that night and decided I was going to gather the most meaningful songs to me and put them on a record. It was not an easy selection but I think I chose right: “My Chidhood”; originally written in French by the one and only Jacques Brel, was the first song I sang in NY, as I was still studying at AMDA (The American Musical & Dramatic Academy of NYC), “C’est Magnifique”; the song I discovered Ella Fitzerald; the lady who “taught” me everything about Jazz with, “J’ai deux amours”; for this insatiable need I have to travel back and forth between Europe and America, “Mon mec à moi”; the first song I ever sang; thanks to my mom and her love of Patricia Kaas, and lastly “Non je ne regrette rien”; for an ode to hope and a salute to my lifetime inspiration; Edith Piaf. Thanks to the love and support of those angels who helped me in immortalizing these classics, I am now offering you the songs of “My Rêverie”. I hope you enjoy them as much as I do…
